Property Description
This gorgeous 2,922 square foot, double-master bedroom home with den, is located in Desert Mountain, a gated enclave in north Scottsdale, AZ. The home has abundant mature landscaping, an easy to maintain above-ground spa; and a wildlife rich, wash on the east side of the home for extra privacy. It enjoys south and southwest views of mountain ranges, gorgeous Arizona sunsets, and twinkling lights after dark from an elevated site. It is in a very quiet location, away from noisy golf courses or roads. Lightly used and professionally managed, a buyer will benefit from the sellers choosing to invest nearly $200,000 in recent years upgrading various features and components in the home (see the list in Documents). It is a worry-free home, priced to sell and is a tremendous value. Desert Mountain is a thirty-four year-old, world renowned, 8,200 acre, recreational development featuring a twenty-mile long private trail system in mountains at the back of property for all residents, and an optional private club with seven major clubhouses, nine different dining venues, six eighteen-hole championship golf courses; one eighteen-hole par-3 course, and four practice ranges, all for the private enjoyment of the Club's members. Membership is not included in the purchase price, but they are available through the Club, if desired.
The home is a popular "Victorio" model, unique to its Desert Mountain village, Cochise Ridge, situated on an elevated site at about 3,200' ASL (a great elevation at which to live all year). It has an attractive gated front courtyard, providing nice views for the kitchen, which is well-appointed with granite countertops, a center island, and stainless steel appliances including double wall ovens, and a five-burner gas range top), and adjacent to a spacious, three-car garage (no long trips from the garage with an armload of groceries in this house!). The garage has an epoxy coated floor and storage cabinets. The laundry room is conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen. A den/television watching room lies between the kitchen/laundry room and the dining room/living room. The living room has a walk-behind wet bar in one corner (equipped with an under-counter refrigerator and cabinets above for glass storage) and a lovely, stacked stone fireplace on the other side. A premium tongue-in-groove wood ceiling system and good art lighting adds to the "look". A raised foyer provides nice views through the living room to the patio and distant mountains beyond. Two spacious Master Suites, each with fireplaces, large walk-in closets, full baths with double vanities, walk-in showers and jetted tubs, provide very comfortable accommodations. One of the bedrooms has a wet bar and under-counter refrigerator. A built-in BBQ/fireplace and a covered dining area with sheltered television is on the back patio, along with an elongated firepit next to the spa.
The "Sonoran Clubhouse" is the Club's fabulous swim (three pools), tennis (nine courts, including one grass, five Har-Tru, and two cushioned hard courts), fitness, spa, pickleball (six courts), bocce (two courts), and croquet facility (two courts). It also has a popular indoor/outdoor restaurant. The entire facility is virtually brand-new, having been completely renovated during 2016 and 2017 at a cost well in excess of $12,000,000. It is now perhaps the premier facility of its type in the entire Southwest. The other clubhouses are special in their own rights and combine to provide a terrific range of experiences for the members.
Desert Mountain is a place of surpassing scenic beauty. It is successful, too, with about 1,900 finished homes ranging in size from 1,800 to over 20,000 square feet and in price from about $700,000 to over $10,000,000. Over sixty homes are under construction. Owners have invested over $30,000,000 in individual homes. It has attracted full-and part-time residents from all over North America and western Europe, most of whom seem to have made "having fun" a key priority in their lives. One thing that makes a lot of them happy is real estate taxes that are strikingly lower than what they are used to, particularly if "home" is or was in the Northeast, Midwest, or California. (2019 taxes on this home were only $3,853.78). The weather is famously sunny. Our risk of natural disasters is extremely low. Being higher and somewhat removed from the city means the stars are bright at night, the air typically much cleaner, and the daytime high temperatures about ten degrees cooler than the Valley floor, every day of the year. Summers are most enjoyable since it only gets over 100 degrees about ten or twelve days a year here, compared to ninety days at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. And, the temperatures drop fifteen to twenty degrees at night during the summer, a significant difference from life further "down the hill". The lack of humidity means 95 degrees is very comfortable, if you are sitting in the shade. So, being in Desert Mountain on a year 'round basis is a very attractive proposition.
Day-to-day shopping needs for Desert Mountain owners are well-handled within about a ten-minute drive by the merchants in the nearby towns of Carefree and Cave Creek. There are roughly 70 restaurants and bars within about sixteen minutes' drive. Our area is famous for world-class shopping, major league and collegiate sports, terrific air service, and a wide variety of cultural attractions. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is routinely forty minutes away from the Front Gate. Private jets come and go from Scottsdale Airport, about a twenty-five-minute drive from the Front Gate. Desert Mountain is within two and a half hours by car of normally excellent snow skiing in Flagstaff and offers easy access to the entire American West, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and a plethora of unbelievably beautiful places in Southern Utah. "Paradise" doesn't overstate it.
Thanks for your interest in this home. We look forward to showing it to you someday, helping you learn about the community, the Club, and the area, and helping you visualize what life here would be like for you! In the meantime, enjoy the photographs and "virtual tour" of the home, the photographs of some of the Desert Mountain Club's facilities, and the separate Document with links to a variety of useful websites.
